Katelyn Gail Tierney is a 2006 graduate of Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts and has been battling Churg Strauss Vasculitis for the past eight years being diagnosed with the disease after having part of her lung removed at Boston Children's Hospital in 2000. In March of 2005 she had part of her other lung removed at Brigham and Womens' Hospital in Boston. Kate has been a lifelong resident of Agawam, Massachusetts.
Kate hopes to reach out to other children and young adults with these same kinds of diseases and offer some hope and support from a first person point of view. She also wants to let people know of the caring and quality doctors that have touched her life and provided the needed medical attention that is so critical to patients of these diseases. The quality of your life is precariously centered on being proactive in seeking medical assistance and advice from the doctors you entrust yourself to. Your life, therefore, becomes interlocked forever with medical support from your own team of doctors. For more specific information on Churg Strauss go to their web site at www.cssassociation.org
